You MUST agree with the conditions below to
submit your world to mudnet. If we find you in violation of any of
the rules below, we'll just remove you from mudnet. Period.
- First things first, be nice. Remember, we're providing this
service for free, and we're donating our hard work, again, for
free. We don't like to be badgered into adding a world, or
criticized for any MudNet type decisions. We like providing MudNet
service to many people, and we really are nice, so please be nice
back.
- You are fully responsible for the players on your MU*. By this,
we mean that if one of your players is found to be spamming over
mudnet, harassing, spoofing, intentionally crashing (or attempting
to crash) MudNet, or otherwise being not-nice, we expect YOU to do
something about it. When we are notified of such abuse, we'll send
you ONE email at your contact address, and if the player is found
to be a further nuisance, your world will be removed from MudNet.
You may combat the problem player in any way you see fit, be it by
sitelocking him or simply uselocking the globals, we don't care,
just remember that we hold you accountable.
- You are responsible for the upkeep of the MudNet player and MudNet
softcode. This means that the burden is on YOU to set the player
up and keep the globals working. If you follow the directions
correctly, you should receive any periodic updates we upload to the
MudNet player and the MudNet Globals. This also means that we can't
really stop you from modifying the MudNet Globals, but, should you
do so, we'd like to know what you change, in case we'd like to add
it, and the changes must not allow or force a player to break rule 2.
- If the bot is unable to connect to your MU* because of a bad password,
it will stop trying to connect. We'll probably try to reconnect it after
a while, else send you email explaining the problem. If it is unable to
connect for at least two weeks for whatever reason, we'll delete your
MU* from the list to avoid accumulating cruft, and usually send you an
email about the deletion.
- The bot may silently drop commands if they appear to be spam.
- We log all commands; not the contents of all messages, but
an indication of who did what to whom when, and we may provide portions
of these logs as evidence when handling a complaint.
- When we are temporarily logging the contents of all messages in debug
mode, we will usually announce the fact on Mudnet channel 0, and we
will generally not provide these logs to anyone.
- These rules are not to be construed as exclusive rights on your
part or ours. We can and will remove your world from MudNet for any
reason specified above or any reason we deem necessary. You should
not construe adding your world to MudNet as any kind of obligation
on our part to provide service to you.
We don't really want the above to seem dictatorial. We're
nice, really, and we don't bite. We just have to protect ourselves from the
above, particularly #1, so that we're not harassed by people looking for us
to add them to MudNet, especially after they've been removed for harassing
people.
